Pruitt chooses Texas State

Houston Stratford HS defensive end Jarvis Pruitt has committed to Texas State. Pruitt (6-3, 220) chose the Bobcats over offers from McNeese St and Lamar.

Jarvis Pruitt (#90) becomes the seventh commitment for Texas State.

As a pass rusher, Stratford head coach Eliot Allen thinks he is one of the best ever to play in a Stratford Spartan uniform.

“He is the best pure pass rush defensive lineman we have had at Stratford and we’ve had some pretty talented defensive linemen,” said Allen.

Pruitt is one of the leaders on the Stratford defense that also includes safety A.J. Justice (SMU commit) and cornerback Kelvin Rainey. One thing that seperates Pruitt from his teammates on defense is his freakish athletic ablity.

“Jarvis is a very talented defensive end,” said Allen.  “He plays the run well because he is so aggressive.  His strongest attribute is his ability to rush the passer.  He is about 6’3” with very long arms and runs in the 4.6 range in the 40 yard dash,” said Allen.

With his commitment now made official and the recruiting process is complete, Pruitt and his Spartan teammates will now get ready for their first game of the 2011 season as they take on Houston Memorial this Thursday.
