Surprise visitor this summer

Kempner HS defensive end Shalom Ogbonda committed to Florida Atlantic back on June 4th but since his commitment, Ogbonda has never closed the door on other schools still recruiting him.

“I have not shut down my recruitment to other schools, Im still in contact with many coaches however Florida Atlantic still remains my top school,” said Ogbonda.

Current Florida Atlantic commit Shalom Ogbonda will visit Texas State this summer.

As he remains committed to FAU, Ogbonda (6-4, 230) has received offers from Virginia, Texas State, UL-Lafayette, Georgia St, McNeese St and has favorites amongst the group.

“FAU is on top followed by UL-Lafayette, Texas State and Virginia,” said Ogbonda.

With offers from schools around the nation, some factors will weigh heavily in his final decision.

“I prefer a school with a good medicine program and I want a football program with a good philosophy,” Ogbonda said.

Ogbonda lists Texas State as one of his top schools and he has plenty of things he likes about Coach Franchione’s program.

“Texas State is a solid program, I like the location…San Marcos is very appealing and its transition to the WAC is a plus,” said Ogbonda.

In comparision to his other offers, why is Florida Atlantic on top for the Kempner HS star?

“I like Florida Atlantic’s school of medicine, the football stadium and their desire to win,” Ogbonda said.

The Bobcats remain a program on his radar and a visit to San Marcos is in work.

“I plan on visiting Texas State at some point this summer. I had this trip planned prior to my commitment and I will take the trip,” said Ogbonda.

Could this trip to Texas State sway his commitment from Florida Atlantic?

“We’ll see but I havent even visited FAU yet and I will do so at some point this summer,” said Ogbonda.
